Dear Neighbor,
It seems that this is a month of meetings.
Our toxic team is awaiting a meeting with Mayor Lurie’s office to discuss ways to
force a clean-up, not cover up of the PCE in the soil and air around 2550 Irving.
No one denies the PCE remains on site and in the air. Differences of opinion
relate to how dangerous it is or is not to cover up the toxic soil rather than extract
the toxic gas.
A Town Hall, held on August 13th , dealt with ideas for how the community should
spend the $34,000 donated by Another Planet Entertainment for the
inconvenience caused by the three day concert in Golden Gate Park. Please send us your ideas for ways this money can benefit the community.
to midsunsetcommunity@gmail.com
Alternatively, write to our supervisor, Joel Engardio, directly at joel.engardio@sfgov.org.
The other big issue is upzoning, also called “family zoning.” If you are not familiar
with the dramatic changes this proposal might cause to the neighborhood, then
we have a meeting for you.
A consortium of neighborhood associations on the Westside of San Francisco is
sponsoring an informational meeting about what exactly upzoning might mean.
The meeting is:
Thursday September 4th
Irish Cultural Center
2790 45 th Avenue
6:30-8:00-pm
You must register, although registration is free. There are a limited number of
seats available.
Please go to: https://www.sonsf.org to register
Finally, once you have decided how you feel about the upzoning proposal, I
strongly encourage you to go to the meeting at which the Planning Commission
will vote on this issue.
It is:
City Hall, Room 400
Thursday, September 11, 2025
No earlier than noon
Anyone will be given an opportunity to speak. Usually one gets no more than 2
minutes.
Wishing you good health and wishing all of us some sun,
Flo Kimmerling
