Thanks to all of you who came to the Mayor’s “Listening Session” at my home last

month. The turnout was amazing. I would like you to put another community

gathering on your calendar. Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 5:00 pm Patrick Wolfe,

a community member, will be visiting and talking about his current run for

Insurance Commissioner of the State of California. I will send out another

reminder and invitation next month. Thanks to all of you, the political forces of

this city know that ours is a community with a voice and one that will be heard.

Several of our Board members met with Mayor Lurie this month, to discuss his

possible involvement in motivating DTSC, the Department of Toxic Substances

Control, to insist on a more thorough cleanup of the PCE on the 2500 block of

Irving Street. The mayor has made a commitment to call DTSC and other

appropriate city agencies about our health concerns. I will keep you posted on

any follow-up actions taken.

Irving Street, between 19 th Avenue and 27 th Avenue, is in the process of some

beautification. You may have noticed that 10 new trees were planted, to replace

those that had died. MSNA also was awarded $7500.00 from a fund set aside by

Another Planet, to reimburse both the Richmond and Sunset districts for the

inconvenience of the multiple concerts in the park this past August. A part of that

money will be going to “pockets of play”, paintings on the sidewalks that are

made to engage children on their walk with their parents down Irving St. Another

portion will go towards festive night lighting. We will need to raise additional

funds for the street lighting.

Please do let me know if there are other issues you wish to raise. And of course, if

you would like to be on the Board of MSNA, do contact me.

Thanks for taking the time to read this email.

Sincerely,

Flo Kimmerling

MSNA
