What's News - November, 2022

Dear Neighbors,

This past month we sponsored a “Coffee with the Candidates” session at the Sunday Sunset

Farmers’ Market at 37th Ave. and Ortega. Residents were able to get a free cup of coffee and chat with both candidates for District 4 Supervisor.

We continue to engage with the Department of Toxic Substances Control regarding plans to

remediate the PCE in the soil and air in the area surrounding 2550 Irving Street.

We have a court date on November 18th , when a Superior Court judge will decide if it can move forward with our lawsuit. As you recall, we are requesting a compromise to the proposed affordable housing at 2550 Irving Street, from 90 units to 80, from 7 stories to 5.5 stories and a basement. This request was codified in a resolution, passed 11-0 by the Board of Supervisors, and signed by the Mayor, over a year ago. The developer, the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation, has refused to compromise multiple times.

A permit to demolish the building currently at 2550 Irving was issued to TNDC this past week. We are determined to make sure that any demolition takes into account the care needed to protect the neighbors from the spread of toxic fumes or destruction of forensic evidence needed to understand the origin of the PCE spills.

Finally, we are working on changing from a 501-C4 to a 501-C3 association. This status would

allow us and all our donors to take tax deductions for any contributions made. If anyone of you is an accountant, please contact us. We could really use some help with the paperwork for this change.

MSNA is your neighborhood association. Please consider supporting our efforts with a

donation. You can drop off mail checks, made out to MSNA, at the mailbox at 1221 27th Ave., SF., CA, 94122. You can also transfer directly to MSNA via Zelle, using the phone number 415.425.2939

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
