The Board received a proposal and presentation from the developer, owner and architect of a proposed apartment complex for 2513 Irving St.
Currently this is the parking lot of the Police Credit Union (PCU), but the PCU is selling it and has plans for a building, 40 feet high, which will house eight 2 bedroom units and 9 parking spaces. The building will extend to the limits of the entire property and the apartments will be at market rate, initially rentals.
MSNA is being asked to support the housing complex. After much research, we have decided to support the proposed housing under two conditions:
1. Department of Toxicology and Substance Control (DTSC) measures and monitors the site and the surrounding homes within 100 feet, for levels of tetrachloroethylene (PCE) in the air. You can check out this post to learn more about PCE and why we are concerned that levels be under control or professionally mitigated.
2. The Police Credit Union and the developer indicate, in writing, that they will support the
proposed affordable housing on 2550 Irving St., only if it is no greater than 4 stories tall.
Please write to us if you have any additional input on this topic.
77 merchants out of 84, on the Irving St. corridor, between 19th and 27th Ave. have agreed to put placards in their windows, supporting the platform of our association and asking Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation (TNDC ) to keep the building to four stories at a maximum.
If you would like a placard for your home, to put in the window, please just let us know through our email: 2550irvingcommunity@gmail.com
Our fundraising efforts have reached $9800.00 so far. Thank you for all your support!
While we will need continual funds to pay for our ongoing legal efforts, this is a terrific start.
